Alison Hoens received her B.Sc. in Physical Therapy in Canada and her postgraduate degrees in Australia. She holds two positions: (1) Physical Therapy Knowledge Broker and Clinical Professor within the University of British Columbia Department of Physical Therapy, and (2) Research, Education, Practice Coordinator for Physiotherapy at Providence Healthcare. She also recently had a role as a Knowledge Translation Specialist at the BC SUPPORT Unit whose mandate is to support patient engagement in research. Ms. Hoens’ contributions to the profession span the realms of clinical practice, pre / post-licensure education, and research. She has facilitated partnerships in over 50 projects between more than 400 researchers, clinicians, decision makers, and patients in clinically relevant research and in the development of resources to support evidence-informed practice. These partnerships have been successful in procuring more than $3 million in research funding. The 22 resources and tools that have been developed to support clinical practice have been accessed `1/4 million times worldwide. She has authored/co-authored 34 publications (including special issues for EPA contraindications/precautions and indications for NMES) and provided over 150 presentations locally, nationally and internationally.
