Michael Friedman is the Director of Strategic Program Development at the Johns Hopkins Hospital (USA) and faculty member of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.   Michael directs the Johns Hopkins Medicine Activity and Mobility Promotion (AMP) initiative and is responsible for dissemination and implementation of AMP both internal and external to the Johns Hopkins Health System.

Michael has contributed to publications in the areas of hospital mobility, functional outcomes, critical care rehabilitation and enhanced recovery after surgery.  He has presented internationally on the subjects of functional outcome measurement, risk stratification, hospital mobility, rehabilitation operations, and value-based healthcare.   Michael’s current research includes inter-professional measurement of function across the continuum and low back pain management.

Michael directs the University of Montana (USA) Rehabilitation Administration Certificate (RAC).  He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.   Michael chairs the APTA’s Council of Health System Physical Therapy..
