Pete is a London based Physiotherapist and Rehabilitation Project Manager with Humanity and Inclusion (formerly Handicap International) and rehabilitation adviser to the UK Emergency Medical Team and European Modular Field Hospital Projects. He graduated in 2008 with an MSc in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Brighton (UK). Pete is the author of the WCPT report on the Role of Physical Therapists in Disaster Management and co-author of both the 2016 WHO Minimum Technical standards and Recommendations for Rehabilitation in Emergency Medical Teams and the 2015 clinical guide: 'Rehabilitation in Sudden Onset Disasters'. Pete has been part of emergency responses in Ecuador, Nepal, Gaza, Iraq, the Philippines, the Syria Crisis, Libya, and Haiti. Prior to working in the humanitarian field, he balanced work in the health service in the UK with development projects in Africa and South East Asia, combining his training as a physiotherapist with his background in medical anthropology. Pete’s current project involves training and integrating rehabilitation professionals into the UK Emergency Medical Team, and leading dedicated rehabilitation and spinal injury teams.
