WCPT has designated 8th September, the date WCPT was founded in 1951, as World Physical Therapy Day. Information and resources for World Physical Therapy Day 2011 are now available.
The day marks the unity and solidarity of the physical therapy community from 101 countries around the world. It is an opportunity to recognise the work that physical therapists do for their patients and community. WCPT aims to support member organisations in their efforts to promote the profession and to advance their clinical expertise, using World Physical Therapy Day as a focus.
Celebration of the day is entirely voluntary. Many WCPT member organisations already have designated national physical therapy days, weeks and months and it is not the intention that these be changed to accommodate the world day. However, organisations that have not designated a day may choose to use 8th September.
It is up to individual member organisations to decide what activities and materials they wish to develop. That way, they can reflect key national priorities and messages.
But WCPT does provide ideas, and support materials - most of which can be found in the World Physical Therapy Day toolkit.
We are happy to publish brief details of activities planned by WCPT member organisations. Please send details to mlockner@wcpt.org

physical therapy
It is good to see that there is a physical therapy day. Clinical expertise in the physical therapy field is important to this field and this is a great effort the solidarity of the physical therapy community around the world is quite encouraging.
The Importance of WPTD
I come here with an important message that I would like to share. I want to share why World Physical Therapy Day means so much to me. in 1998 on September 8th, in collaboration with home health medical, my private practice held a day long event giving free injury massages and checkups to families in need. I met so many incredible people that day and feel so very blessed to be involved in this profession. I encourage all of my fellow professionals to join me in providing services as we truly have the power to make the difference. The pulse of the nation is on us. Here is an audio podcast I helped create with my colleagues in Chicago. http://spotonchicago.com/2010/09//facts-for-world-physical-therapy-day.html
world physical therapy day = success
I'm currently in PT school at UNC, but we participated in World Physical Therapy day last year. It's a great day to exchange resources, ideas, and just discuss the profession and everything it entails. I'm definitely looking forward to it again this year - UNC will be hosting an especially large gathering for physical therapists. There will be a lot of networking and we are collaborating with IUhealth to bring together those in PT from across the United States.
re
advancing the clinical
advancing the clinical expertise in the physical therapy field is really important and it is so good to see that there is a physical therapy day set alone for that.i think over time more recognition will given to the therapy which is long overdue in my humble opinion.

Thank You For Your Service and Dedication
I have always respected the work and dedication that physical therapist parlay into their practice. Many years of running marathons have been made permissible by the help of many skilled therapists and I am very thankful. Hopefully events such as this will inspire younger generations to study the practice.
Physical therapy for kids
Physical therapists are often able to relieve pain and help kids resume daily activities. After an injury, physical therapists teach kids exercises designed to help them regain strength and range of motion, and also show them how to prevent a recurring injury.
