ICF in clinical practice

The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) is widely known and recognised, but it is not used in clinical applications. There are probably many reasons for this, one of them is the complex way of coding the functional description of the patient.

In January 2017 the Polish Chamber of Physiotherapists (PChP), the governing organisation of physiotherapists, established under The Act on the Profession of Physiotherapy, began its activity. PChP is the only professional organisation in Poland authorised to represent physiotherapists before government, self-government and court bodies. PChP gives an opinion on teaching programmes at universities, coordinates postgraduate training and supervises the legitimate practice of physiotherapists in Poland.

In cooperation with many experts, PChP has created guidelines for providing health services in the field of physiotherapy and describing them in medical records based on the ICF classification.

We are happy to share our knowledge of how we have succeeded.
