Busuttil, Maria-Louisa

Ms Busuttil is physiotherapist and Manager at the Social Care Standards Authority in Malta. She has a M.Sc. in Health Services Management from the University of Malta and her research interests are regulatory issues, social media practices, cross-border healthcare, and public health. She is the President of the Malta Association of Physiotherapists, has served as Chief Executive Officer of the association (2007 - 2015) and as working group member of the European Union Matters Working Group of the European Region of WCPT (2012-2016). She collaborated onto the CEO group of the WCPT between 2010 and 2015. She is actively contributing to advocacy measure for the physiotherapy profession in Malta and has led a task-force to explore the role of physiotherapists in schools. She has co-ordinated a national study on obesity that was held in Malta through the Ministry for Education and Employment. She was employed with the Ministry for Social Dialogue, Consumer Affairs and Civil Liberties between 2015 and 2017. Through her current role as Manager of the Social Care Standards Authority she supports the Inspectorate Office to regulate social care in Malta whereby her main role is to transpose the law to social care standards.
