Clinical professor of musculoskeletal health & consultant physiotherapist
Lisa is a clinical academic in Southampton, UK and leads a research programme in communication. Other research interests include developing web-based resources for people with back pain; non-specific treatment effects in complementary therapy; families’ experiences of hip surgery for children with developmental dysplasia; and rehabilitation through ballroom and Latin American dancing.
Lisa has over £6m research grants, has published widely and in 2017 won the inaugural Advancing Healthcare ‘Research Champion’ award. She has lectured across 4 continents and in 2016 was awarded a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
As a consultant physiotherapist in musculoskeletal, alongside her clinical role, Lisa leads the clinical effectiveness agenda for 7 professions at the University Hospital Southampton Trust and has led the implementation of an award-winning, self-referral scheme for hospital staff to access musculoskeletal physiotherapy services.
Lisa was awarded a Fellowship by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy in 2013 for her work as a leader, clinician, researcher and educator. She is a past president of the Society for Back Pain Research and has 3 roles in Eurospine, including the Task force for EDISC, the Eurospine inter-professional spine diploma.
